Nachos: A Love Sonnet
Nachos: A Love Sonnet
What’s love if not layered, cheesy, and unapologetically messy? Nachos aren’t just a snack—they’re a muse, a poetic inspiration worthy of Shakespeare himself. Sure, sonnets were once reserved for summer days and unrequited romances, but honestly, who needs all that drama when you’ve got jalapeños and guacamole? So, in the spirit of eternal devotion, I present this ode to nachos, my one true love:
Shall I compare thee to a nacho plate?
Thou aren’t more tasty yet more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of guacamole,
And sour cream lease oft drips, then seals thy fate.Sometime too hot the jalapeños blaze,
And oft their fiery heat consumes the tongue;
And every chip from bag sometime declines,
By chance or salsa’s shifting course unbrimmed.But thy eternal crunch shall never fade,
Nor lose possession of thy golden grace;
Nor shall the guac’s brown shade mar thy sweet face,
When nacho love eternal finds its place.So long as men can crave and hands can clutch,
I know at last, my true love’s in thy touch.
Let’s be honest: no summer fling, no epic romance, no fleeting infatuation can compare to the bliss of a perfect nacho platter. Because nachos don’t ghost you, talk too much about their ex, or ask if you’re really going to finish the guacamole (of course I am). So here’s to nachos—forever crunchy, endlessly cheesy, and undeniably better than anything Shakespeare ever loved.
