The Nacho Deck
At some point during Card Playing Day, between the crumbs, the bluffing, and the rising tension over who double-dipped, I realized: playing cards have gone too long without proper representation. There are decks for poker, decks for tarot, decks for cats in space — but where’s the deck for us? The snackers. The grazers. The nacho-minded.
So I started sketching The Nacho Deck. A full 52-card set themed entirely around the noble nacho. The suits practically named themselves: Cheese, Chips, Salsa, and Guac. The face cards are pure character study — The Double Dipper (Jack), The Layered Perfection (Queen), The Overloaded (King), and The Clean Chip (Ace). Every card back would gleam in warm golds and reds, the pattern built from tiny triangles that only make sense when you’re hungry.
The Jokers, of course, stay unpredictable — one always wins, one always stains the table. That feels about right.
I imagine the deck with the quiet confidence of something that should already exist — slightly slick to the touch, faintly glossy, the kind of design that looks serious until you notice the guacamole green edging. A deck that knows exactly what it is: playful, proud, and a little too into itself.
Because nachos deserve their own game — not one of chance, but of commitment.
